Parks District Art Walk

A VIBRANT, SELF-GUIDED ROUTE

You're invited to explore the Parks District Art Walk, a vibrant, self-guided route showcasing five public art installations around The Weld. The full walk is roughly 2 miles, making it an easy, scenic loop through murals, sculptures, and the greenway near downtown Raleigh.

1.

Start the Art Walk outside Ray at The Weld and just look up. You'll be stopped in your tracks by Taylor White's beautiful seven-story mural on the side of the building. It’s especially stunning around golden hour to see the floral masterpiece!

2.

From here, head next door to The Holston. Inside the main lobby, you’ll find a striking sculpture by Thomas Sayre. This organic form, inspired by a tree trunk, complements The Holston’s natural, elevated atmosphere.

3.

Head down S. Saunders Street and stop at Rockway. Facing WillowTree Coffee, take in the five-story mural by Also Dept. artists Joe Geis and Jeramiah Britton. This must-see mural pulls design inspiration from the neighboring park.

4.

Hop on Rocky Branch Greenway behind Rockway and walk East to find Taylor White’s mural at the tunnel. This piece brought life to a previously dark and dingy tunnel. See for yourself!

5.

Lastly, make your way back towards Rockway and cross Lake Wheeler Road to Dix Park. Within the park is a special exhibit by world-renowned artist Thomas Dambo. These whimsical sculptures are part of Dambo’s largest U.S. installation to date, with two more trolls making their homes in High Point and Charlotte. His work, found in forests and parks across the globe, turns discarded materials into storytelling art. Now, Raleigh joins that global map of wonder. Their exact hiding spots remain a secret, because trolls aren’t meant to be announced, they’re meant to be discovered.
